Things to Do at Cedar Creek Lake

Lake days, local flavors, family adventures and a few of our favorite ways to wander.

EXPLORE CEDAR CREEK LAKE

Make the most of your time at the lake.

A stay at Sapphire Sunset can be as relaxed or adventurous as you want it to be. Spend the day on Cedar Creek Lake, cast a line, explore a nearby park, discover a local restaurant, or simply head home early enough for the hot tub and a round of pool.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to experience the Cedar Creek Lake area. Hours and availability can change seasonally, so we recommend checking with individual businesses before heading out.

ON THE WATER

This is lake country, after all.

Cedar Creek Lake is the centerpiece of the area. Whether you want to cruise, fish, paddle or simply spend a quiet afternoon near the water, there are plenty of ways to enjoy it.

Boat & Jet Ski Rentals

Rent a pontoon, boat or personal watercraft and turn a quiet lake weekend into a day on the water.

Fishing

Bring your own gear or book a local guide for crappie, white bass, hybrid striped bass and other Cedar Creek favorites.

Neighborhood Lake Access

Sapphire Sunset is a short walk from neighborhood lake access, making an evening by the water an easy addition to your stay.

EAT & DRINK

Try something local.

The towns surrounding Cedar Creek Lake are filled with casual local spots — barbecue, burgers, catfish, patios, food trucks and places where dinner sometimes comes with live music.

Our suggestion: skip the chains at least once. Part of the fun of a lake weekend is finding a small-town spot you wouldn't have discovered back home.

FAMILY ADVENTURES

When the kids are ready to explore.

Parks & Trails

Pack a picnic, find a walking trail, spend some time near the water or head out for an easy afternoon outdoors.

Fishing & Outdoor Fun

Cedar Creek Lake makes it easy to introduce younger travelers to fishing, boating and the slower rhythm of a lake weekend.

Rainy-Day Backup Plan

Bowling, movies and other indoor activities around the lake make it easy to pivot when Texas weather changes the plan.

WANDER A LITTLE FARTHER

Make a day of it.

If you're staying for a few days, Cedar Creek Lake also makes a great starting point for exploring more of East Texas. Look for farmers markets, local boutiques, wineries, nature trails and small-town discoveries throughout the surrounding area.

Or don't make plans at all. Some of the best lake days involve nowhere you need to be.

PLAN YOUR STAY

Looking for what's happening this weekend?

And then come home to Sapphire Sunset.

However you spend the day, the hot tub, game room, fire pit and a comfortable place to unwind will be waiting when you get back.
